What Makes A Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,

The majesty of a tree,

The warmth of a summer sun,

The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting arm of night,

The wisdom of the ages,

The power of the eagle's flight,

The joy of the morning spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience of eternity,

The depth of a family need.

Then God combined these qualities,

When there was nothing more to add.

He knew his masterpiece was complete,

And so,

He called it... Dad

During our College graduation, when the speaker announced that we were already graduates and most of us have already thrown the graduation cap. I secretly slipped my way towards the balcony and looked for Tatay. I never knew what I was thinking that time. I don't care if it is prohibited to go up the balcony or not, all I know is that I wanted to hug him, to thank him more than anything else. I was the only graduate in the balcony and around me I was hearing cheers and applause.

If I have endured all my trials and challenges, it is because Tatay was my secret weapon. He gave me the greatest gift I know of - he believed in me.
